On February 17, 2014 (Japan time), Funai Electric Co., Ltd. (Hereinafter :”Funai Electric”, Headquarters: Daito, Osaka; President and CEO: Yoshikazu Uemura), announced that they have just signed up the partnership agreement with the major league U. S. team the Boston Red Sox. At the same time, Funai Electric has signed up a charitable contribution of U.S./Japan Youth Baseball Exchange program.
Pitcher Koji Uehara and pitcher Junichi Tazawa who greatly contributed to the Last Championship for the Red Sox, naturally attracted great attention by the media in Japan as well as the United States. A large contingent of Japanese media is expected to cover the activity of these much-anticipated pitchers.
By entering this new partnership agreement, Funai Electric and the Boston Red Sox expect to establish and increase their corporate brand name recognition in both Japan and the United States through this partnership agreement.

1. A charitable contribution of U.S./Japan Youth Baseball Exchange program

Twelve Japanese boys will visit Boston for 12 days (date to be determined), and while performing international cultural exchange between U.S. and Japan, a friendly match with local youth baseball teams will be held this summer. Funai Electric was the presenting sponsor of this event for five years (from 2008-2012) as part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR).

2. The Partnership Agreement

The logo of Funai Electric is used for the signboard in a spring training camp place, the background board for an interview of Japanese mass media, the bottom signboard of the back-net in the regular-season game held at the home Stadium, etc. Moreover, advertising printing to the Boston Red Sox professional baseball team's formal magazine is also planned.
